Sheila Albrecht

Sheila D. Hale Albrecht, age 54, of Prairie du Chien, WI, diedSaturday, December 2, 2011, at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1957, in Prairie du Chien, a daughter of Robert and Darleen (Pitzer) Hale.

Sheila gave her time to personal care giving in the Prairie du Chien area and at G&G Living in Guttenberg.

When not working she could be found enjoying her favorite past time - gardening.

Sheila is survived by her life partner, Richard Boller; two sons, Robert Bronson & Matthew Bronson; her mother, Darleen Hale; a granddaughter, Lillian Bronson; her twelve siblings, Becky (Gary) Bjorge, Robert Hale, Kim Wilker, Todd (Jane) Hale, Rodney (Brenda) Hale, Timothy (Carol) Hale, Scott (Maureen) Hale, Kurt (Deb) Hale, Eric Hale, Kristin (Frank) Ries, Jennifer Wepking, and Kerri (Jason) Damm; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert; and a brother, Gregory Hale.

Funeral Services were held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, with Pastor Mike Christensen officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster. Visitation was from 10 am until the start of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Carson Alcorn

Carson C. Alcorn, age 71, of Lancaster, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13th 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 25, 1944, the son of Clyde Bennett and Alverda Susan (Vesperman) Alcorn. Carson attended Bowen Country School, near the family farm, and graduated from Lancaster High School. While working at the Lancaster State Bank (M&I and now BMO Bank) he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking and over time became Director and Senior Vice President.

Carson married Dorothy M. "Dottie" Bakken on July 12th, 1975 at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. Together they raised their two children, Aaron & Terrissa and enjoyed working together (especially on the farm), traveling and socializing with extended family and friends.

Carson loved telling jokes and his quick wit helped create a strong community where he helped organize the Lancaster Community, Hospital & Scholarship Funds. His passion for helping others led him to serve on the Lancaster Housing Authority, Southwest Tech Financial Advisory Board, American Foreign Exchange for Students, Lancaster Chamber Ambassadors, Jaycees, and the United Way. He was very active in his faith through his involvement in the Lancaster United Methodist Church, Shared Ministry Committee, & the Council of Ministries. Carson didnt stop there and volunteered his time to the Grant County Fairgrounds & Livestock for more than 30 years! During retirement, he became a personal financial advisor for many people.

Carson is preceded in death by his parents and son Arik Carson. He is survived by his wife, Dottie, their children: Aaron Breck (wife Tami Jo) & Terrissa Lynn Alcorn. He will also be missed dearly by his three grandchildren: Alexandra May, Arik Carl and Adam Carson Alcorn, and members of the Bakken family.

Funeral services were on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor Barb Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 3:00 7:00 p.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Carson Alcorn Memorial Fund has been established. Schwartz Funeral Home of Lancaster is assisting the family.

Dorothy Allbee

Dorothy F. Allbee, age 96, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. She was born on July 28, 1919, in Beetown the daughter of Dustin and Ocea (Laufenberg) Potter. Dorothy attended Beetown rural school. On November 22, 1937 she was united into marriage to Frank M. Allbee. Together they farmed in Waterloo Township. She was also employed for over thirty years at Rapid Die and Molding in Cassville. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, gardening and cooking.

Surviving is her son Roger (Betty) Allbee, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, her special companion Joe Berntgen, and a sister Opal (Harley) Laugesen Turner.

She was preceded in death by a son Robert (Diane) Allbee, a granddaughter Joan Anderson, her siblings, Marilyn (Richard) Irish, La Verne (Ann) Potter, Hazel (Bernie) Louthain Levins, Lulu (Myron) Pritchett, Glenice (Tom) Allbee, Cecil (Marie) and Clyde Potter.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in the Hurricane Cemetery, Waterloo Township. Family and friends called on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Nellie M. Altom

Nellie M. Altom, age 103, of Fennimore, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Society. She was born August 7, 1906, the daughter of Harry and Emma (Sandifer) Titus in Smithboro, IL. Nellie graduated from Mulberry Grove High School and attended Eastern Illinois Teachers College and taught elementary grades for 10 years at Walshville, Myatt, Elm Point, McCord and Smithboro Schools.

On May 31, 1930, Nellie married Charles O. Altom in Greenville, IL. She assisted him in a photographic business with hand color tinting of black and white pictures. She was a member of the First Christian Church and served many years in the Sunday School, Missions and Home Departments. She was a devoted caretaker for her parents and husband until his death in 1974.

Nellie moved to Lancaster, WI in 1979 to be near her family. She volunteered at the Grant County Thrift Shop and was active in the Calvary Community Church Missions group.

Nellie is survived by her daughter, Linda Lyons, Fennimore; two grandsons: Dr. Matthew (Robin) Lyons, Odon, IN and Dr. Justin Lyons (fianc, Samantha Lawrentz), Ashland, OH; two great-granddaughters: Sarah and Abigail Lyons.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and her brother, Harry Titus, Jr.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 at First Christian Church in Greenville, IL with Pastor Darrel Bolen officiating. Burial was in Montrose Cemetery, Greenville, IL. Visitation was held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, WI and from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Monday, December 7 at the church in Greenville, IL.

Delores "Toddy" Ames

Delores E. Toddy Ames, age 72, of Potosi, died on Monday, February 7, 2011, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 9, 1938, at home, the daughter of Clinton and Edith (Fritz) Russell. Delores graduated from Lancaster High School in 1956. On June 4, 1957, Delores was united in marriage to Udell B. Ames at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Lancaster. She babysat many of the neighborhood children before starting to work at Advance Transformer. She was later employed at the Lancaster Care Center. Delores was a member of St. Andrew and St. Thomas Catholic Church and was an avid Cubs and Packer fan. She enjoyed her walks in the park, shopping, gambling, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, Udell Ames; one daughter, Linda (Bill) Kress; three sons: Greg (Ginger) Ames, Todd (special friend, Sandy Leibfried) Ames, and Gary (Tammy) Ames; nine grandchildren: Holly (friend, Tim Brockling) Kress, Mitch (Melissa) Kress, Shane (fianc, Val Steffens) Ames, Cody (Brook) Ames, Haley, Tanner, Malorie, Makila, and Abby Ames; three great-grandchildren: Addy, Sophia, and Logan Kress; her mother, Edith Russell; two sisters: Arlene (Norbert) Wieland and Bonnie (Denny) Stluka; many nieces and nephews.

Delores was preceded in death by a brother, Larry, her father, Clinton, her father and mother-in-law, Bert and Gertrude Ames, and brother-in-law, Gernert Ames;.

Funeral services were Friday, February 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi Township. Family and friends called on Thursday, February 10, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Friday, February 11, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Gernert F. Ames

Gernert F. Ames, age 74, of East Dubuque, IL, formerly of Potosi, WI, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Manor Care of Dubuque, IA. He was born on August 26, 1934, the son of Bert and Gertrude (Fecht) Ames in Detroit, MI. Gernert graduated from Potosi High School in 1952. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Maul on July 29, 1972. Gernert worked for John Deere Dubuque Works for 34 years repairing tractors. He was also a real estate agent for McIntyre Realty and volunteered with the Potosi Fire Department for many years.

Gernert was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in East Dubuque and served as president of the congregation. He was also an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed camping. Gernert especially cherished his family.

Gernert is survived by nine children: Randy Ames, Waukesha, WI, Deborah (Joel) Sommerfeldt, Merrill, WI, Vickie (Tim) Redington, Monticello, MN, Celeste (Greg) Steiner, Potosi, WI, Michelle (John) Armstrong, East Dubuque, IL, Michael (Belinda) Ames, Kokomo, IL, John (Julie) Vocke, Sheffield, IL, Tammy (Mike) Serdynski, Muskego, WI and Gernert P. (special friend, Mandy Jo) Ames, Dodgeville, WI; 29 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his wife, Phyllis Ames, East Dubuque, IL; three brothers: Udell (Toddy) and Don (Cleone) Ames, both of Potosi, WI and Roger (Rita) Ames, Prairie du Chien, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jacqueline and a granddaughter, Bianca Laura.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2009 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (1755 Delhi St.) in Dubuque with the Pastor Arnold Flater officiating. Burial was held in St. Thomas Cemetery, Potosi Township, WI. Family and friends were welcome from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi, WI and from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers and plants, a Gernert F. Ames Memorial Fund has been established.

Joan Ames

Joan E. Ames, age 75, of Lancaster, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. Joan was born on November 13, 1940 in Tennyson, a daughter of Leo & Sylvia (Broihan) Schmitz. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1958. Joan married John Ames on May 23, 1959 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. She raised her family while working at the former Lancaster Memorial Hospital and later, at Morningside Assisted Living, until her retirement. Joan enjoyed collectables, car club cruises, family camping trips, and cooking and baking for her family.

Joan is survived by her husband, John; her children, Julie (Terry) Knapp, Jim, Jerry (Pauline), Joel (Tina), Jeff (Linda) and Jon (Sandy); 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her cat, Mittens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joyce Klaas; a niece, Kim Myers; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Ames; and a grandson, Duane.

Family greeted friends on Saturday, April 2, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster. Private family burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. A Joan Ames Memorial Fund has been established.

Colleen Anderson

Colleen M. Anderson, age 66, of Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Patch Grove, Wisconsin passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. She was born on December 23, 1949, in Boscobel, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Stadele) Lester. Colleen attended West Grant High School. She furthered her education at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore and obtained a degree in Marketing. Colleen was employed at Wellington Place at Biron, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. On September 22, 1984, she was united in marriage to David Anderson at Wyalusing State Park, Bagley, Wisconsin. After their marriage, Colleen enjoyed traveling and was an avid quilter.

Survivors include her loving husband, David; three children: Lisa Pitzer, Boscobel, WI; Bryan Breuer, Denver, CO; Lacey Anderson, Englewood, CO. Three stepchildren: Kevin Anderson, Drumore, PA; Kirk Anderson, Conifer, CO; Kory Anderson, Portage, WI. Colleen also had seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include: Michael, Middleton, WI; John, Farina, IL; Greg, Charlotte, NC; Donavon, Gays Mills, WI; Joe, Seligman, MO; Kenny, Boscobel, WI; Richard Boscobel, WI; Brendon, Mt. Hope, WI. Four sisters: Trudi Finney, Prairie du Chien, WI; Janice Kirshbaum, Mt.Hope, WI; Theresa Kieler, West Burlington, IA; Anna Marie Lester, Madison, WI.

In addition to her father and mother, Colleen was preceded in death by a son, Eric Breuer and a sister, Susan Schmelling.

Leland Anderson

Leland W. Anderson, age 100, of Bagley, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at his home.

He was born on December 30, 1916, in Patch Grove, the son of George and Wessie (Key) Anderson. Leland graduated from Patch Grove High School. He then worked in Chicago for a short time, where he met the love of his life, Elsie Jahoda. They were married on June 17, 1939, in Oak Park, IL. In 1940, they moved to the Bagley area where they farmed together for many years.

Leland drove school bus for the West Grant School District for 18 years. After retiring from farming, he was a milk truck driver for Hazleton Cheese Factory. Leland enjoyed bowling, woodworking, mowing his yard and sitting on his deck watching the birds and flowers. He dearly loved his family and treasured their visits.

Survivors include five children: Robert (DeAnna), Glenwood Springs, CO; Dixie (Bob) Duff, Three Rivers, MI; David, Wisconsin Rapids; Mark, Winona, MN; Julie (Chuck) Raisbeck, Bloomington; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elsie; two sisters: Meryl and Monna; a daughter-in-law, Colleen; and a grandson, Eric Breuer.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomington with Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Patch Grove Cemetery, Patch Grove. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Selma E. "Betty" (Dearth) Anderson

Selma E. "Betty" (Dearth) Anderson, age 67, of Cassville, joined the Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on August 29, 1941 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Lester and Germaine (McKillip) Dearth. Betty graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1959 and attended Green County Teachers College. On January 27, 1969, Betty married Gene Anderson in Bushnell, IL. She worked for United Telephone Company for several years before working at Advance Transformer for 24 years. Betty was currently working at HomeCare Select in Cassville, WI. Betty enjoyed fishing, hunting and searching for ginseng.

Betty is survived by her husband, Gene, Cassville, WI.; five step-children: Gary (Karen) Anderson, Monroe, WI., Christina (Keith) Jelle, Belleville, WI.; Lonna Arn, Monticello, WI,; Laura Anderson,Lodi, WI;. and Bill (Connie) Anderson, Monticello, WI; 13 step-grandchildren; and 21 step-great-grandchildren ,her mother, Germaine Metz, Monroe; WI, ;six brothers: Frank (Lila) Dearth, Wiota, WI; Jim (Jo Ann) Dearth, Friendship,, WI; Bill (Nancy) Dearth, Oregon, WI; Roger (Bonnie) Dearth, Clinton, WI; John (Al) Dearth, Bellevue, NE and Robert (Cheryl) Dearth, Monroe, IN; three sisters: Margaret Wenger, Monroe, WI;. Karen (Pat) Boyce, Clinton, WI. and Mary Ann (Tom) Inman, Clinton, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Dearth; her step-father, Joe Metz; a brother-in-law, LaVerne Wenger and her best friend, Berdetta Reed.

A Celebration of Life Service was held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church (250 S. Grant St.) in Lancaster with Reverend David Froemming officiating. Friends called on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Betty will always be remembered for her kind and loving spirit and for her love of nature and family.

Theodore Anderson

Theodore W. "Ted" Anderson, age 89 of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. He was born August 16, 1926 in Chicago IL.

"I Love Life!"

Ted said this even as his Alzheimer's symptoms worsened during his five years living in Orchard Manor Nursing Home, the place he called "Home". Ted grew up in a loving family, strengthened by his father Theodore, mother Marie and sister Jeanne. After graduating from High School in Chicago, he enrolled in the U.S. Navy in 1944 at age 18. Following his active service, Ted showed his dedication to the U.S.A. by serving as a Naval Reservist for 29 years. During those years, he earned an Electrical Engineering Degree from the University of Illinois. After he found his initial job as an engineer boring, he pursued a Legal Degree from DePaul University in Chicago. He then spent over 50 years enjoying his career as an Intellectual Property Attorney. How he loved his work!!

Unconditional love was extended to his children: Chip (Vicki), John, Mary, Nancy (Paul) and Alan. Also to his wonderful Grandchildren: LeAnn (Forrest), Conor, Cole and Joshua. His tenderness and love surrounded his great-grandsons--Cash and Clyde.

His love of life, his Navy career, and his Legal career were witness to Ted's integrity, kindness, intelligence and generosity. His marriage to Helen in 1977 cemented a partnership filled with humor, cameras, pets, challenges, and mutual respect and love. Ted really enjoyed living and working in the Lancaster WI area. Oh, and how he loved flying his Bellanca Viking!

He is survived by his "bride" Helen, his children and the family's younger generations. Also, his sister Jeanne (Glenn), nieces: Kathy and Amy, nephew Gordon, and all the loving caretakers at Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Ted was preceded in death by his father Theodore W., his mother Marie H., and two precious aunts: Bertha and Catherine.

A Celebration of Ted's Life was held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Orchard Manor Nursing Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. A luncheon followed. Private family burial with military honors accorded by the Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109, the William Pollock VFW Post No. 2344 and the DAV No. 40 was at Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the nursing home chapel. Lois A. Andrew

Lois A. Andrew, age 92, of Platteville, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Manor Care Health Services in Platteville. She was born on July 6, 1917, the daughter of Clarence and Lily (Foote) Chandler in Potosi , WI . Lois was united in marriage to Orrin Andrew in May of 1937 in Galena , IL . He preceded her in death on March 7, 1984. Together they farmed outside of Platteville and she also worked as a nurses aide at Greys Nursing Home in Platteville for eight years. Lois was an active member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in Cornelia.

Lois is survived by her son, Orlin (Virginia) Andrew, Platteville; a grandson, Jeff Andrew, Platteville; three great-grandchildren: Jeffrey Andrew (fianc, Carey Jacobs), Ashley Andrew (fiance, Aaron Howard) and Rachael Andrew; one great-great-granddaughter, Lily Rose Andrew; a sister, Tellma (Chuck) Pulliam, Caledonia, IL; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orrin; five sisters: Vonda Johnsen, Kay Resch, Edna Albers, Eva Rogers and Mildred Koning.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ in Cornelia with Reverend Sue Strickler officiating. Burial was held in the church cemetery. Family and friends were welcome from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville and from 9:00 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.

Carl C. Andrews

Carl C. Andrews, age 82, of New Berlin, formerly of Cuba City, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at his home. He was born November 23, 1925, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of Charles and Alberta (Clemens) Andrews. He graduated from Cuba City High School. Carl served in the United States Navy during World War II. He attended and graduated from Platteville Teachers College. Carl then earned his masters degree from Colorado College in Colorado Springs. He married Norma J. Krogman on August 17, 1949 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington, WI. During his teaching career, he taught at West Lima, Hartford, and Bloomington High Schools. Carl was a teacher and vice principal at New Berlin West, and was the founding principal at New Berlin Eisenhower High School. He was also a successful high school coach for both baseball and basketball. He belonged to the New Berlin American Legion Post and was a charter member of VFW Post #8318 in Cuba City. He was a member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in West Allis. Carls public service included many years with the New Berlin Park & Recreation Commission, the New Berlin Scholarship Committee, and the New Berlin Optimists. He always put family first and loved travel, golf, all sports, and especially high school sports.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Andrews, New Berlin; two children: David (Sandra) Andrews, Waukesha; and Nancy (Robert) Reitman, Mequon; five grandchildren: Michael Berndt, Megan (Jason) Mays, Sam Berndt, Benjamin Andrews, and Ryan Andrews; one great-grandchild, Avery Mays; two sisters: Ruth (Francis) Eckerman, Madison; and Iva (David) Modrich, Raton, NM; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Carlson, Sussex; five brothers-in-law: James Krogman, Cassville; Ernest (Jean) Krogman, Lancaster; Paul (Nelda) Krogman and Thomas (Evelyn) Krogman, both of Bloomington; and Fr. Philip Krogman, Green Lake; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Lee and Glen Andrews; and a sister-in-law, Mary Krogman.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Philip Krogman officiating. Burial, with military honors accorded by the Abraham Hickok Wetmore American Legion Post #148 of Bloomington and the Cuba City VFW Post #8318, was in St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 from 4:00 7:00 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington, and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the funeral home.

Jane A. Andrews

Jane A. (Dalsing) Andrews, age 49, of Cassville, formerly of Dubuque, IA, died on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at her parents home in Cassville after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 4, 1961, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Nilus and Mary Ann (Donovan) Dalsing. She graduated from Hempstead High School in Dubuque, IA, in 1979. Jane enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and Karaoke. She was a loving and devoted mother who took great pride in attending her childrens activities. Jane also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Survivors include her children: Julie Peck, Clinton, IA; Heather (Jonathan) Brown, Davenport, IA; Randall (Katie Jo) Andrews, Webster City, IA; Nicole (fianc Shawn Snaith) Andrews, Dubuque, IA; her parents: Nilus and Mary Ann Dalsing, Cassville; four grandchildren: Michael and Aimee Brown, Jennifer Andrews, and Christopher Snaith; her brothers and sisters: Joan Mest, Dubuque, IA; Tom (Amy) Dalsing, Welton, IA; Mary Jo (Larry) Smock, Worthington, IA; Betty (John) Moore, Tyner, KY; Kay (Ed) Sass, Dover, DE; Tim (Teresa) Dalsing, Marion, IA; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Bernard (Luella) Dalsing and Agnes Gram Donovan.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 29, 2010, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Norder officiating. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends were welcome on Sunday, March 28, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where a scripture service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville. Friends also called on Monday at 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Jane A. (Dalsing) Andrews memorial fund will be established.

Norma Andrews

Norma J. Andrews, age 87, of Wauwatosa formerly of Bloomington and New Berlin, passed away on Friday, April 03, 2015, at St. Camillus Nursing Home in Wauwatosa. She was born on June 1, 1927, in Bloomington, the daughter of Herman and Julia (Trumm) Krogman. On August 17, 1949, Norma was united in marriage to Carl C. Andrews at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington. He preceded her in death in 2008.

Norma attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Bloomington High School in Bloomington, then went on to get a teaching degree at Platteville State Teachers College. She taught English at Rio High School, Bloomington High School, and Lane Junior High School in West Allis. She was a voracious reader and always had at least two crosswords going "to keep from getting bored". Her family meant everything to her, particularly her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: David (Sandra) Andrews and Nancy (Robert) Reitman; five grandchildren: Michael (Marisa) Berndt, Megan (Jason) Mays, Benjamin Andrews, Samuel Berndt, and Ryan (Lori) Andrews;six great-grandchildren: Amaya Berndt, Avery, Winston, and Harrison Mays, Trey Linski, and Charles Andrews; brothers: Jim Krogman, Paul (Nelda) Krogman, Tom (Evie) Krogman, Father Phil Krogman; sisters-in-law: Jean Krogman, Ruth Eckerman, and Iva (Dave) Modrich; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Carl, Norma was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest; sisters-in-law, Mary Krogman and Elaine Andrews; brothers-in-law, Fran Eckerman, Lee (Elaine) Andrews, and Glen Andrews; a niece, Patti Schroeder, and a nephew, Glen Hawley.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Philip Krogman and Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, donations are preferred to Special Olympics in memory of Norma J. Andrews. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington is assisting the family.

Donald M. Adrian

Donald M. Adrian, age 80, of Potosi, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. He was born on December 7, 1928, in Adrian Hollow, the son of Matt and Bessie (Wamsley) Adrian. Donald had a twin brother, Stanley "Chub" who were both born at home. They were handed through a window to due to a house fire and later taken to their grandparent's home for safety. Donald attended Cassville Catholic School and farmed with his father on the family farm. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country from 1946 to 1948. On April 11, 1950, Donald was united in marriage to Annabelle Adams at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. After their marriage the couple farmed near Burton, where they raised three children: Dennis, Diane and Bruce. In 1970, the family purchased the John Errthum farm near Rockville, which their son, Bruce, purchased and farms with his son, Preston. In 1973, Donald purchased the John Flesch farm where they currently live with their son, Dennis, who runs the farm. Donald loved farming and was a very hard worker. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. Donald also enjoyed playing softball and playing cards. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, Lancaster.

Survivors include his wife, Annabelle Adrian, Potosi; his children: Dennis Adrian, Potosi; Diane (Mark) Muldoon, Lancaster; Bruce (Carol) Adrian, Potosi; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley "Chub" (Mary) Adrian in 1983, and a nephew, Steven.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial with military honors was b in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends called on Saturday, January 31, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is assisting the family.

Jon R. Arp

Jon R. Arp, age 78, of Bagley, died on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Lancaster Care Center, Lancaster. He was born on January 17, 1935, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Otto and Dorothy (Oppendike) Arp. Jon served his country in the United States Army and the Naval Reserve. In 1954, he was united in marriage to Arlene Rice in Rock Island. Three children were born to this union: Kimberly, Shari and Jon. Jon was employed with Illinois Bell Ameritech until his retirement in 1983. In 1989, he married Diana Boyd in Moline, IL. In 1998, the couple moved to Bagley. Jon loved fishing, reading about history, and playing cribbage.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Arp, Bagley; two children: Kimberly Arp, Grass Lake, Michigan; Shari (David) Shrum, New Market, Alabama; one sister, Diana Coelho, Moline, IL; two grandchildren: Zachary Arp Barnett and Kacie Shrum; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jon was preceded in death by a son, Jon.

At Jons request there was no services. Private family burial with military honors will be at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Bagley First Responders. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington is serving the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lancaster Care Center for their care and support during Jons stay.

Clinton J. Atkinson

Clinton J. Atkinson, 82 of Cuba City, formerly of Lancaster, died Friday, September 14, 2012, at Grant Regional Health Center following a brief illness.

Clinton was born on August 5, 1930, in Platteville, a son of Delbert & Vera (Speth) Atkinson. He married Iretta Puddles Lange on June 15, 1957 in Muscoda, WI. Together, they raised their three sons in Lancaster.

Clinton served in the U.S. Army until his recall home following a family tragedy. He helped on the family farm, and worked at the Dubuque Packing Company until he retired after nearly 30 years of employment. He drove truck for Gasser Hardware for a period of time, and ran the movie projectors at the Grantland Theater for several years as well. "Clint" enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and competing from an early age. He was a regular in motorcycle events in the mid 1950's. He earned many trophies and much recognition with his abilities on flat tracks, hill climbs and endurance racing. He was also in the March 1955 issue of Harley Davidson magazine "The Enthusiast", as part of the 1954 State Championship Motorcycle Polo team. Clint also enjoyed fishing and camping with the love of his life. In his later years, Clint enjoyed time spent with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Clinton is survived by three sons, Kevin (Julie), Rick (Donna), and Bret (Dorry); five grandchildren, Kelly (Levi) Kurth, Jessie (Justin) Donar, Clinton CJ , Mason, and Skylar Atkinson; two great-grandchildren, Caden Kurth and Landon Donar; two brothers, Leonard and Merlyn (Beverly) Atkinson; a sister-in-law, Geneva Troxel; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends. Clint was preceded in death by his wife, Iretta in 1992, his parents, and his infant brother, Delbert Jr.

Memorial Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at the Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial of cremated remains was in St. Clement Cemetery. Friends called from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Leonard Atkinson

Leonard E. "Squeaky" Atkinson, age 86, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in rural Lancaster. He was born on M arch 21, 1928, on a farm near Platteville, the son of Delbert and Vera (Speth) Atkinson. During the summer of 1941, they bought a farm near Lancaster. Leonard grew up there and graduated from Lancaster High School with the class of 1946. Leonard was employed with the Dubuque Packing Company and worked there until he retired in 1980. He liked to spend many years with his motor boat on the river and riding his motorcycle as well as snowmobiling. In later years after he no longer used them, he had a scooter he enjoyed riding around Lancaster. Squeaky worked as a special Deputy for Grant County Sheriff's Department and was known by many as he helped at dances around the county several years ago. After retiring, he had several part time jobs that he enjoyed, including large load escort service and helping at Pioneer Motors in Lancaster. Leonard was also a member Free & Accepted Masonic Warren Lodge No. 4 in Potosi and the Lancaster United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his brother, Merlyn (Beverly) Atkinson; three nephews: Kevin (Julie), Rick (Donna), Bret (Dorry) Atkinson; four nieces: Angie (Don) Heim; Darcie (Gary) Breiner; Marnie (Karl) Kane; Erin (Dan) Hayes; special friend, Evelyn Shulka.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by two brothers: Clinton (Iretta "Puddles") and Delbert Atkinson, Jr.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home, where a 10:45 a.m. Masonic Service was held.

James Axt

James Robert Axt, age 64, died Monday, October 17, 2016, at his home in Cassville. He was born on April 14, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Robert George Axt and Lola Mary Bour Axt. He was raised in Shorewood, Wisconsin with his older brother Geoffrey, his younger brother William (Bill) and his sisters Suzanne (Suzy) and Cathy Sue. He graduated from Shorewood High School in 1970 and from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1974 with a degree in history and a teaching certificate. While at St. Olaf he met and married Joy Lynette Parker on December 23, 1972, at Hopkins United Methodist Church in Hopkins, Minnesota. Four children were born to them: Katherine Miriam, Gillian Marie, Andrew James and Hannah Joy, all of whom survive him.

Immediately upon leaving St. Olaf he and Joy spent two years teaching school in Western Australia, first in the capital city of Western Australia, Perth, and then 300 miles up the coast in Geraldton, W.A. James taught at City Beach High School in Perth and then at a brand new junior high school in Geraldton. After returning from Australia, he entered Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he earned a Master of Public Administration degree and a Doctor of Juris Prudence degree in 1979. For a year he worked in Clear Lake, Iowa, as an attorney and then opened his own private practice in Rockwell, Iowa, while also serving as judicial magistrate for Cerro Gordo county.

Eventually he made his way to Newton, Iowa where he worked briefly for Farm Credit Services before spending the largest part of his law career with the State of Iowa in the Department of Inspections and Appeals as an administrative law judge. His final legal job was in private practice in southern Iowa. James enjoyed photography and his cabin in northern Wisconsin.

In addition to his survivors, he is predeceased by his paternal grandparents August and Ella Marie Donath Axt, his maternal grandparents Arthur Henry Bour and Catherine Mary Scholtes Bour, and his sister, Cathy Sue Axt. His father Robert also preceded him in death and his mother Lola passed away recently.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, 1684 Iowa Street, Dubuque, IA 52001. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is assisting the family.

William Axtell

William F. Axtell, age 82, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. He was born on August 2, 1934, the son of Raymond and Aughelle (Ryan) Axtell. William graduated from Cuba City High School. He farmed for a short time before building grain bins. In June of 1954, William was united in marriage to Barbara Wenzel. After their marriage, the couple resided in Lancaster and raised their family. William was employed at REA on a brush crew and worked his way to Line Superintendent. Retiring in 1994. William was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and cutting wood. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the American Rifle Association. William was a devoted husband and father and dearly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Axtell, Lancaster; their children: Brenda Taylor, Bart Axtell and Lori O'Neil, all of Lancaster; grandchildren: Jason and Michael Taylor, Nicole Yaun, Logan O'Neil and Brittany Wallace; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Axtell, Dubuque, IA; sisters-in-law: Sherry Axtell, Capron, IL; Sally Axtell, Hazel Green; a yellow lab, Abby.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry "Beagle" O'Neil; his brothers: Forrest and Silas Axtell; and a sister-in-law, Jane Axtell.

In keeping with William's wishes there will be no service or visitation. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with his care.
